Who we are
Luna is operated by Noah Technology, Inc. ("Luna," "we," "us," or "our"). Luna is a voice companion for conversation, reflection, and preserving personal stories. It is not a medical or emergency service.
Information Luna processes
Information you provide
- Your first name, so Luna can greet you naturally.
- Live voice audio and conversation text, so Luna can understand and respond during a conversation.
- Story text, when you ask Luna to organize a conversation into a title and short summary.
- Photos, only when you choose one for a story. Photos remain on your device unless you choose to share them.
Technical information
Luna creates a random installation identifier on your device. We use a one-way transformed version of that identifier for service safety, abuse prevention, and reliable operation. Our service providers may also receive standard network information such as an IP address while processing a request.
What stays on your iPhone
A saved story's recording, transcript, title, summary, and sharing status are stored locally on your iPhone. Luna does not keep a central family library on our servers in this version of the app. You can delete a saved story at any time, and deleting the app removes its locally stored information from that device.
How live conversations are processed
Luna sends live audio to OpenAI to transcribe the conversation and generate Luna's spoken response. When you choose to save a story, the conversation transcript may also be sent to OpenAI to create a title and brief summary. We do not use Luna conversations for advertising.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. Under OpenAI's default API controls, content may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days. Our own Luna service does not create a separate server-side archive of your recordings or transcripts.
Sharing with family
Luna never sends your family a conversation automatically. Sharing is initiated by you through the iPhone share sheet, and only the specific story you select is included. Once shared, the receiving app or person handles that copy under their own privacy practices.
Service providers
We use OpenAI to provide voice, transcription, and story-organization features, and Cloudflare to securely route requests. Apple processes App Store purchases and subscriptions under Apple's privacy practices. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
Retention and your choices
- Delete any saved story from its story page in Luna.
- Choose not to save a conversation when a call ends.
- Revoke microphone, camera, or photo access in iPhone Settings.
- Delete Luna to remove its locally stored stories from that device.
- Contact us to ask a privacy question or exercise an applicable privacy right.
Children
Luna is designed for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections and short-lived access credentials. No method of electronic transmission is completely secure. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate.
